Langstone Safety and Workwear were pleased to support the annual Caerphilly Sports Awards evening dinner as the sponsors for the evening. Langstone Safety and Workwear have a long association with Caerphilly Council. The Sports Caerphilly Awards evening was held at the Bryn Meadows Golf Hotel and Spa. The Sports Caerphilly Awards evening is an initiative that recognises the commitment and contributions to develop and expand sports for individuals, clubs and communities throughout Caerphilly.
The awards evening was hosted by Jason Mohammed, BBC Sports presenter. The evening was supported by many local Sports personalities and Sports organisations in Wales. To present the awards, Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson a multi-gold medal winner in the Paralympic Sports. She competed for Wales at five Paralympic Games and three Commonwealth Games, winning a total of 16 medals, including 11 gold medals, and holding 35 world records. She is formerly the chair of UK Active and is currently a trustee of the Commonwealth Sports Foundation and an ambassador for UNICEF. She is now the Chair of Sports Wales and works closely with the Deputy Minister of Arts and Sports for Sports Wales Performance. Also in attendance was Lauren Price MBE who has represented Wales and team GB in boxing, women’s football and has recently achieved gold medal at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. She has now started her career as a professional boxer with two wins.
The Awards were a recognition of the work carried out by wide range of Clubs, Sports Organisations and individual contributions to the development of sport and young people in sport in the area. With awards categories including, Community Coach of the Year, Young Volunteer of the Year, Club of the Year, Inclusive Coach of the year, Lifetime to Sport in Caerphilly. Langstone Safety and Workwear have been supplying Caerphilly Authority with workwear and PPE for over twenty years. We extended range of products to include sports and leisure clothing supplying Caerphilly Leisure services as well as Sports Clubs and Organisations in Wales. We now provide an extensive range of sportswear including, Nike, Adidas, Under Armour as well as bespoke garments.
To meet the increasing demand for personalised garments from Sports Clubs, we have invested in additional new embroidery and printing machines from Tajima and Roland to increase our capacity and provide an extensive garment personalisation service, we provide in house, logo design, Embroidery, Printing and Heat seal transfer services.
With increasing awareness and demand for Sustainable clothing, we are developing an extensive range of sustainable clothing products in the workwear and sportswear sectors. Developed and designed to reduce enviromental impact and support more sustainable sourcing and production. Recent developments include an alternative T shirt fabric, produced in a 100% recycled polyester fabric.
By providing recycled polyester alternative we preventing the non-biodegradable material plastic from reaching landfills or the ocean. I’NGO Ocean Conservancy estimates that 8 million tonnes of plastic reaches our ocean per year, this amount joins the estimated 250 million tonnes already there.
Recycled polyester has the same characteristics as virgin polyester, yet it takes far less resources to manufacture and produce. WRAP estimate that recycled polyester requires 59% less energy that virgin polyester in production. This reduces our CO2 impact whilst also reducing the extraction for crude oil need.
